Study Abroad in France

 

Strasbourg

 

The Strasbourg program focuses on the language, history and contemporary culture of France. Courses are taken with faculty in the IIEF (Institut International d’Études Françaises) at the Université de Strasbourg, and are also taught by other faculty from the Université de Strasbourg. An option for Political Science or International Affairs students is offered by faculty teaching at the IEP (Institut d’Études Politiques) of Strasbourg.

Fulfills the overseas study requirement for the French Studies major and the overseas study requirement for the Foreign Languages major with French as the first language. This program also fulfills the two-course international studies requirement.

Senegal Dakar

The Senegal program focuses on the historical, cultural, and socio-economic institutions of sub-Saharan Francophone Africa.  Study takes place in Senegal’s largest city, Dakar.  Courses are taught by Africa Consultants International (ACI) and University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD) faculty.  Topics may include colonial heritage, post-colonial politics, contemporary Senegalese society, West African art history, West African oral literature, and environmental issues.

Requirements Fulfilled:
Fulfills the French Studies overseas study requirement.  Fulfills the two-course international studies requirement.

Paris

 

In cooperation with the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES), Lewis and Clark offers a program of French study in Paris. With its grand boulevards, world-famous monuments, unparalleled literary and artistic history, and its simple joie de vivre, Paris is a city that will change you forever.

Requirements Fulfilled:
Fulfills the overseas study requirement for the French Studies major and the overseas study requirement for the Foreign Languages major with French as the first language. This program also fulfills the two-course international studies requirement.
