Japanese Language Community

The Japanese Residential Language Community (RLC) is a vibrant community of students excited about living the 日本ã®ç”Ÿæ´» [Japanese way of life], or as at least as close as you’ll get in this hemisphere.  Students immerse themselves in Japanese life - speaking Japanese, cooking Japanese food, watching Japanese TV, and after a while, most likely, dreaming in Japanese.  Through programs, readings, dinners, and media and community events, you’ll be able to experience Japan outside of the classroom, and meet classmates excited about delving deeper into Japanese language and culture.

The Japanese RLC is located in West Hall, and are four-bedroom apartments housing students along with the language assistant from Japan.  You don’t have to major in Japanese to be a part of the RLC.  You just have to be enthusiastic about speaking Japanese and living in an environment dedicated to experiencing Japanese life.

Live there for the entire year or for a semester before going abroad or upon returning from overseas.  Whether you are a Freshman, a Sophomore, a Junior or a Senior, by living there you help bridge the gap between your life in the classroom and your life in the wider campus community.
