Student Life Development Program

Each person in the Division of Student Life plays a vital role in supporting the student experience and contributing to the health and vibrancy of the Lewis & Clark community. In order to recognize the significant contributions of our staff and provide meaningful opportunities for growth, the Student Life Staff Development Committee has established the Student Life Staff Development Program. The program is founded upon the following mission and goals:

Mission Statement:

The Student Life Staff Development Committee serves the Division by providing on-going and robust professional development and advancement opportunities within the following areas:

  • Awareness of divisional principles, structure and direction, as well as an understanding of departmental purpose and interconnectedness;
  • Growth in the areas of knowledge, attitudes, skills, and behaviors relevant to professional success;
  • Opportunities for personal and professional networking.

Goals:

  • Strengthen our identity as a Division;
  • Development of inclusive and equitable practices/thinking amongst students, staff, and faculty;
  • Expand professional growth for staff;
  • Foster a culture that recognizes and honors Student Life staff’s achievements;
  • Recognize the work that is being done by our colleagues;
  • Inspire a sense of pride in who we are and the work we do;
  • Reinforce our commitment to continued learning as a Division;
  • Increase the opportunities for all staff to attend conferences or participate in professional development;
  • Cultivate a sense of belonging;
  • Promote collaboration among members of the Division;
  • Expand our own knowledge and experience so that we are better able to support the student experience and one another;
  • Provide ways to recharge ourselves: the better we are able to take care of ourselves, the better we are able to support the student experience.
