Joshua Ulmer

Advisory Board Vice Chair

Mr. Ulmer is a Director in the Corporate Client Group and a Senior Vice President with Morgan Stanley, where he oversees the corporate pension advisory practice for the Pacific Northwest.

Joshua received his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from Lewis and Clark College. He went on to complete a number of industry specific programs and professional designations, which include:  a Certificate in Risk Management from the New York Institute of Finance; the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation through the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charter; and the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist designation through the College for Financial Planning.

Joshua has been the recipient of various forms of industry recognition, including: 2017 PLANSPONSOR Retirement Plan Adviser of the Year; PLANADVISER’S 2017 TOP 100 RETIREMENT PLAN ADVISERS; Financial Times Top 401 Retirement Plan Advisors in 2015 and 2016; Barron’s 2017 & 2016 Top 1,200 Financial Advisors in America; National Association of Plan Advisers Young Gun list in 2017. In January of 2017, Mr. Ulmer was selected to serve as a council member for the Retirement Advisor Council of America.

He is presently a member of the CFA Institute, the Portland Society of Financial Analysts, the National Association of Plan Advisors, as well as a Member of the Investment Management Consultant Association. Joshua residents in the Pearl district in Portland, Oregon with his fiancée. He is an avid global traveler and has visited 6 of the 7 continents.
