What three words would you use to describe L&C?
What has been your favorite class so far? How did it expand your knowledge?
Exploration and Discovery, Nailed It: Failure and Success in Thought and Practice with Professor Sara Appel. In this class, we reflected on several classic and contemporary novels, tv shows, and films to understand the nature of success and failure and how it shapes identity and society. One of the readings we explored was the graphic novel Watchmen, which was amazing to understand and analyze the power of literature and graphics to deliver a complex story.
What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?
Lewis & Clark gave me the small school feel that I was looking for while also allowing their students endless opportunities at both global and local scales in the thriving city of Portland, Oregon.
Why are you planning to double major? What relationship do you see between Environmental Studies and Political Science?
I plan on double majoring in Environmental Studies and Political Science with the aim to go into environmental policy work. I believe that we can move forward and make great strides by taking in environmental action through institutional and political change.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
Templeton Campus Center—it’s one stop for everything. I especially love the comfy seats by the staircase.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Portland?
There is always a concert in town, new food to try, and something to do.
How do you manage stress?
I am a movie buff, so putting aside time to watch a movie is a great way to relieve stress. I also like going to museums for a study break.
Do you have a job on campus? If so, how do you fit work into your schedule?
I work at the Information Technology Service Desk on campus, and I love it! I build my schedule depending on what time I end classes that day and always end my shift by 4 or 5 p.m. so I have time to do my school work.
How has Lewis & Clark changed you?
Lewis & Clark has made me become a more conscious person of the many different ideas and ideologies that people have. I have become more open to exploring new subjects, especially with my interdisciplinary education.
