What’s your favorite class? How has it expanded your knowledge?

I have had a number of classes that I have immensely enjoyed, but I have to say that I drew tremendous value from U.S. Empire to Superpower. This class expanded my knowledge of United States history during this time period but more importantly taught me valuable lessons about how history shapes our current realities. In order to enact change and improve as societies and as people, we must understand how the current situation came to be. History is not a stagnant, far removed set of events but the foundation upon which our lives are built. We must examine these foundations if lasting change is to be made.

What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?

The academics really stood out to me, and the reviews that I received from several former students about classes and professors were positive. I was really drawn to the football coaching staff, who were very genuine with their interest in me as a person and not just a player. Crucially, Lewis & Clark also had a friendly financial package.

How did your financial aid package influence your decision to attend Lewis & Clark?

My financial aid package had a very large influence on my decision to attend this school. If not for the large number of merit scholarships I received, I would not have been able to attend school here.

If you studied overseas while at Lewis & Clark, how did you choose your program? What did your overseas study add to your L&C experience?

I studied abroad in Ecuador, and it was a truly amazing experience. My Spanish improved immensely. I also had the privilege of meeting so many amazing people, exploring parts of the Amazon, being immersed in the culture of Cuenca (with lots of trips to discotecas), surfing on the coast, and volunteering in a local animal sanctuary that rehabilitates and cares for thousands of animals.
