Favorite spot on campus: The Dovecote! It’s so cozy and you get to see the rush of students between classes. Perfect place to quickly grab lunch and a cup of coffee. It’s also near the Albany Quadrangle so you can sit on the outside benches when it’s a beautiful day.
Little-known fact about me: I love ice cream but I am not a fan of sweets… I prefer spicy/savory
Piece of advice for students in the college search process: Reflect on what you need in education and how those necessities are met. For example, if you thrive in a classroom setting where you get to have discussions with the teacher and your peers, then a smaller college might be your best option. Get to know yourself before you look into colleges. This process is about how YOU can succeed in college.
Favorite place to spend time in Portland: Walking around NE Portland, especially through Alberta St! If I ever want a snack or a yummy treat, I just walk around until I find a food cart. AND there is a Salt & Straw Ice Cream shop so I have to get a scoop at least.
If I was stranded on a desert island, I would want these three things:
- My favorite pair of socks
- Pink nail polish
- One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez so I can finally read it
If I didn’t work in Admissions, I would be: A florist! I think it would be a lot of hard work but it would be so fulfilling to wake up and water plants, build homes for pollinators and care for nature. I love flowers and gardening so if I get to care for plants and share them with others- that’s a dream come true.
