What’s your favorite class? How has it expanded your knowledge?
Chinese 101 and 102 Keith Dede and Meiru Lu. I have never had so much fun learning a language before. They really teach you to embrace the language, and I actually want to keep learning it.
Who is your mentor on campus? Why do you consider this person your mentor?
Assistant Coach CJ Appleton BA ’17 because he has mentored me on and off the basketball court, and he challenges me to always seek improvement.
What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?
The opportunity to play basketball and have a chance to be so close to Portland.
Why did you choose to transfer to Lewis & Clark? How is Lewis & Clark supporting you as a transfer student?
My previous school, University of San Francisco, just did not have what I wanted in a school. When I learned about L&C and visited, it felt right. There are so many resources that are available and the transfer staff make me feel important.
Why do you choose to play basketball at a DIII school? How do you balance athletics and academics?
The opportunity that Coach Tim gave me, and I wanted to contribute to L&C’s basketball history. I balance athletics and academics by staying to a schedule and trying not to procrastinate.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
Definitely the reflecting pool. It is so beautiful and one-of-a-kind.
What’s your favorite thing about living in Portland?
The many great food places around town. There is such variety and they are all high quality.
How did you decide on a major?
I took some international affairs classes and really enjoyed them. I could see myself using this degree while having fun with what I am doing.
What have been the biggest challenges you have faced at Lewis & Clark?
It took me a while to adjust to the cold weather, being from California.
How do you manage stress?
I handle stress by usually working out or by getting off campus and exploring Portland.
How has Lewis & Clark changed you?
I feel that L&C has really helped me mature and grow as a person. I feel that since coming here I have a better understanding of what I want to do later in my life.
