Each year, Commencement includes brief remarks (7-9 minutes) from a member of the senior class.
Speeches must be submitted by Wednesday, March 12, 5 p.m., to Michael Ford, Associate Vice President for Campus Life, via Word document attachment to email@example.com.
On Monday, March 17, 2014, 7-9 p.m., a senior/staff/faculty selection committee hears all speeches in Templeton Campus Center, Council Chamber. Senior class members are invited to attend.
Speeches are evaluated based on published criteria by a panel of seniors and staff who volunteered to serve in this capacity, and the selection committee is convened annually by Michael Ford, Commencement Coordinator.
All seniors competing for this honor will be advised in writing of the results of competition once the chosen speaker is notified by the Dean of the College.
All seniors participating are invited to have their speeches taped, sign a release form if they so choose, and tapes of their speeches are be made available at the News section of the Commencement web site.
