Hartzfeld Residence Hall

Hartzfeld houses 100 students in four two-story buildings and is among the most popular residence halls available to sophomores and above. Rooms are arranged in suite-style housing: four students in two adjoining rooms share bath facilities.

Hartzfeld offers students a great place to interact with their community in the central lounge with fireplace and spacious community kitchens. Hartzfeld buildings are small enough - only 25 residents each — to provide each resident with privacy, yet plenty of opportunities to meet new people.

With only 25 occupants per building, the residents in Hartzfeld tend to get to know their neighbors and create a community quickly. Each Resident Advisor (RA) is responsible for planning programs throughout the year, ranging from things like ice cream socials to study abroad info sessions and everything in between. The Hartzfeld RAs are also skilled in peer support and mediation skills to help residents wanting to improve their connection to roommates and the community, should the need arise. Likewise, as undergraduate juniors and seniors, RAs are great resources for information about the campus and Portland communities.
