Faculty Learning Sessions: Community Engagement with Campus Compact

Join faculty from across institutions, disciplines, and varying levels of community engagement expertise to participate in an interactive learning community. Drawing on Welch and Plaxton-Moore’s The Craft of Community-Engaged Teaching and Learning (2019), the six Faculty Learning Community meetings will foster faculty learning about integrating community-engaged principles, practices, and pedagogies into their work.

Together, we will build a deeper and more nuanced understanding of how to work with community partners, engage students in meaningful community-rooted experiences, facilitate diverse forms of reflection, and infuse a critical examination of the systemic nature of justice issues. We will also take time to clarify our individual motivations for doing community-engaged work, and build a community of support to sustain and enhance our practices.

Participants will leave with a draft community-engaged course syllabus or course proposal, pedagogical resources, and a plan for course implementation.

The information presented in the faculty learning community is designed so each session builds on the previous session. We recommend that those who register attend all six sessions.
