Diploma Information

The College of Arts and Sciences, in collaboration with Parchment ordering services,  provides each graduate with both a printed paper diploma and a digital diploma. (Please note that the digital diploma is being offered for the first time, and is available only to students who have graduated in 2024 and after.)

The traditional embossed printed diploma is suitable for framing and recognizes your achievement in obtaining your degree from Lewis & Clark College.

The digital diploma can be shared with a secure and verified link, and many countries recognize digital diplomas as an alternative to an apostille.

What do I need to do to receive my diploma (printed and digital)?

Be sure to respond to all communication from the Registrar’s office regarding your diploma.
An email will be sent to you asking you to verify:

  • the name you want printed on your diploma (diploma name)
  • the address to which you want your printed diploma mailed (diploma address)
  • the cell phone number to which a text message will be sent with a link to obtain your digital diploma*

You must respond to emails as directed if you need to make any changes to name, address or cell phone number.

When will I receive my diploma?

Your digital diploma will be available directly after the Registrar’s office has verified your degree has been earned - typically three to four weeks after the end of the semester.

Your printed diploma will be created and mailed within 30 days after your digital diploma has been provided.

How will it be sent?

You will be notified of your digital diploma availability both by text message* and by email to your LC email account.  Be sure to check your email regularly, and check your spam folder.  To view/download your digital diploma, you must follow the directions/link to set up your Parchment digital credentials account.  Your digital diploma will always be accessible online through your Parchment account, and you can download or share your diploma as many times as you’d like throughout your lifetime.

Your printed diploma will be mailed via the US Postal Service to the diploma address on file with the Registrar’s office.  There is no charge to you for mailing the diploma via the US Postal Service.

What if I have an international mailing address?

Your printed diploma will be sent free of charge via the US Postal Service.  However, there are no tracking services provided after the diploma leaves the US border, and shipping can take an extended time.  You may wish to have your diploma sent to a US address if you are staying in the States after graduation.

Alternatively, you can, at your own cost, choose to have your diploma sent to an international address using our e-ShipGlobal shipping service, which provides full tracking services by trusted shippers such as DHL, FedEx, or UPS.  If you wish to use this option, you must contact the Registrar’s office directly at reg@lclark.edu or respond to the email you will receive if you have listed an international mailing address.

How do I set up a Parchment account in order to access my digital credential?

  1. Click on the link provided in the text message or email from Parchment.  Your account is created using your LC email account (lcXX-XXXX@lclark.edu) as your login ID.
  2. Create a password.  (Note that if you have previously set up a Parchment account using your LC email address to order transcripts, you can log in using your current password.)

We strongly recommend that you add a personal email to your Parchment account.  This will allow your Parchment account to remain accessible to you after your LC account has closed (one year after graduation).

You can find a helpful video about account setup, and diploma retrieval here.

* Text messages will be sent to the cell phone number that the school has on record.  If you wish to change the number or opt out of text messages, you must respond to the email sent to you by the Registrar’s office regarding your cell phone number.
