Keiko was born in Shimane, Japan. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Chinese History from Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan and her Master’s degree in Multicultural Education and ESL at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She has taught all levels of Japanese at Yunnan Minority University in China, Smith College, Mt.Holyoke College and North Carolina State University before joining WLL at Lewis & Clark College.
Keiko loves reading books, and she is a health food enthusiast and a baker. When she has time, she loves watching Chinese television dramas to study Chinese. She is also a regular contributor to a Japanese newspaper in Osaka where she shares her views on political, social and environmental issues in the U.S.
