Operation Nightwatch declares, “Three cheers for Lewis & Clark students!”
Open gallery
We’re referring to the college here, not the explorers (although they were undoubtedly fine folks, too).
The reason for the cheers is that at the beginning of last week, we didn’t have enough volunteers signed up to open the downtown Hospitality Center on either Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. But on Tuesday evening, we made a Nightwatch presentation on the L&C campus, and like the cavalry charging to the rescue, L&C students came out on all three nights to save our bacon. (And as The New Yorker would say about that last sentence, “Block That Metaphor!”)
In fact, L&C volunteers have signed up to serve at the Hospitality Center for several weeks into the future, eliminating the need to beg for others to fill slots to keep our doors open.
But that’s not to say we still don’t have slots available on most nights. If you’d like to come down and join the Thursday/Friday/Saturday night party, feel free to sign up!
