Bio
My name is Kaes “The Swamp Man” Vanderspek, but my friends call me Kaes. I was born in Seattle, Washington and have lived in the area for most of my life. I am studying English, Rhetoric & Media Studies, and a small amount of Physics and Mathematics. I’m particularly interested in the political implications of storytelling and how narrative is used and misused for social change. I spend most of my time, reading, writing, talking with friends, or going on runs. I am co-editor in chief of the Lewis & Clark Literary Review and am pursuing a career in both creative writing and academia.
