Dean of Students
Celestino Limas, Ph.D. is the Dean of Students & Chief Diversity Officer and leads the Division of Student Life. The division includes Campus Living, the Center for Career & Community Engagement, College Outdoors, Counseling Service, Health Promotion & Wellness, International Students & Scholars, Multicultural Affairs, Physical Education/Athletics, Student Activities, Student Health Service, Student Support Services, and Conference Services, New Student Orientation, Parent Programs, Student Conduct, Templeton Student Center operations, and food service (contracted through Bon Appétit). Student Life collaborates with other administrative areas across the College to ensure an integrated, supportive, and responsive environment in which students can thrive.
Why should you visit the Dean of Students office?
- To meet and/or chat with Celestino with any questions, concerns, or ideas you have;
- To check out our great new office space located in the East Rec. Room, across from Maggie's;
- To request a letter of reference for transfer application or grad/law school.
Requesting Letters of Reference & Form Signatures
Members of the Student Life staff are eager to assist students and alumni who need letters of reference or recommendation for other institutions, scholarship applications, graduate school, study abroad, employment, or other audiences.
To request such a letter, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students & Chief Diversity Officer's Administrative Coordinator, Amy De La Cuba, at 503-768-7110 or stlife@lclark.edu, or stop by the main floor of East Hall.
In most cases, we will need two weeks to process requests for letters of recommendation or reference. This is particularly the case if you want to meet a staff member prior to the letter being written.
If you need a Leave of Absence or Withdrawal Form signed, please be sure to fill it out completely before bringing it for the Dean's signature.

Note: oftentimes you will need to sign a release form in order for a staff member to write to both on- and off-campus audiences.
