Meet the 2024 Nielson Social Change Innovation Grant Recipients!
Students Indigo Araya and Nichole Champion have been awarded the 2024 Nielson Social Change Innovation Grant for their transformative projects that promote social justice and community wellbeing. The Nielson Grant, made possible through the generosity of Patrick Nielson ’71 and Dorris Nielson, provides funds for Lewis & Clark undergraduate students to bring their initiatives to life to create systemic social change. This year’s recipients are tackling issues of transgender rights in Costa Rica and holistic wellness in Portland.

Updated Stewart-Odell Residence Halls Enliven the Heart of Campus
This fall, Lewis & Clark reopened the Stewart-Odell residence halls after a sweeping renovation. In addition to many interior and exterior upgrades, Stewart-Odell now houses the Travel Lounge Living-Learning Community, the Student Counseling Center, and select Campus Living offices.

Bacchus Ultimate Frisbee Makes a Competitive Showing at Nationals
Bacchus, one of two Ultimate Frisbee teams at Lewis & Clark, qualified for the 2023 Men’s D-III National Tournament as a favored Northwest competitor, playing hard-fought games against other colleges from coast to coast.
L&C Baseball Program Logs Blockbuster Season
In 2023, L&C’s baseball team won its first Northwest Conference Championship since 1987 and advanced to its first-ever NCAA Tournament. In addition, third baseman Jack Thomson BA ’23 was named D3baseball.com National Player of the Year and a First Team All-American.
