Commencement Parking and Transportation
PARKING
On Sunday, May 6, 2012 please encourage your family and friends to arrive by 8:30-9:00 a.m. for the Commencement Ceremony. Parking is available in several on campus lots. Allow extra time for traffic, walking to Griswold Stadium or Pamplin Sports Center, and finding seating.
For maps and directions to Lewis & Clark, please consult the College’s Visiting Campus site.
Parking access and availability will be shown by traffic directional signs posted along S.W. Palatine Hill Road as well as by uniformed Campus Safety officers and other uniformed parking assistants. The largest supply of parking can be accessed via Gate 2. Additional parking will be available and can be accessed via Gate 5.
Parking is prohibited in the neighborhoods surrounding the College.
HANDICAPPED PARKING
Blue signage with the handicap logo on it will be on the roadway beginning at the roundabout at the Law School. The signage will direct those needing handicapped parking to the Visitor Information Gate. A Campus Safety officer will be there to assist with the best available parking.
SHUTTLES
ON CAMPUS SHUTTLE SERVICE will be available Sunday, May 6, between 8 am and 9:30 am and then between Noon and 2 pm. A 25 passenger bus will circulate on the Campus between Fir Acres Theater, Lower Griswold, Upper Griswold, Law School, Houston Ball Field, and Campus Safety parking lots.
Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5
The Pioneer Express will provide service between 6th & Salmon (downtown Portland) and Templeton Student Center on its regular schedule
Sunday, May 6
Pioneer Express
In addition to the regularly scheduled Pioneer Express service, the College is adding two additional Commencement shuttle buses to provide early morning If you and/or your family/guests plan on taking either the Pioneer Express or the additional Commencement shuttles, Sunday, May 6, please be advised of this important announcement about Pioneer Express/Commencement shuttle downtown shuttle stop.
- Due to a half-marathon being run through downtown Portland, Sunday, May 6, we have rerouted the Pioneer Express and Commencement Shuttles.
- Salmon Street is dedicated to the run and will thus not be available for our regular 6th & Salmon shuttle stop.
- The location for both the Pioneer Express and Commencement shuttles will be at SW Park Avenue and SW Columbia Street, near Tri-Met bus stop 1108. Click here for a map and walking directions from SW 6th and Salmon.
- Shuttles will run on their posted times but will take the freeways to and from downtown to avoid the run.
7:30 a.m.—Commencement Shuttle, arriving Templeton at 8:00 a.m.
7:45 a.m.—Commencement Shuttle, arriving Templeton at 8:15 a.m.
8:18 a.m.—Pioneer Express, arriving Templeton at 8:45 a.m.
8:30 a.m.—Commencement Shuttle, arriving Templeton at 9:00 a.m.
8:45 a.m.—Commencement Shuttle, arriving Templeton at 9:15 a.m.
9:13 a.m.—Pioneer Express, arriving Templeton at 9:55 a.m.
The College’s shuttle provider will have a dispatcher on site at SW Park Ave and SW Columbia Street location to assist Commencement guests for these early runs.
Afternoon: Commencement Shuttle service will continue with one additional bus from Templeton to 6th & Salmon at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
During the afternoon, the Pioneer Express will continue its regular schedule
Beginning at 7 p.m., the Pioneer Express will run on the hour to Kell’s Irish Pub, site of the Graduation Party, returning from Kell’s on the half hour until 2 a.m.
