  • Photos from “Nailed It”: Screening and Q&A with Filmmaker Adele Pham
We had a wonderful evening exploring and uncovering the real history of the Vietnamese nail salon with filmmaker Adele Pham. “Nailed It” takes viewers from Los Angeles to the Bronx to meet the diverse people and relationships behind the booming and enigmatic nail salon trade.

In virtually every city, state, and strip mall across the U.S., people get their nails done in salons likely owned by Vietnamese entrepreneurs. We explored how this community came to dominate an $8 billion dollar nail economy.

This event was brought to you by Ethnic Studies, Rhetoric and Media Studies, Asian Studies, Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement, Student Activities, Asian Student Union, Black Student Union, Office of Equity and Inclusion, and the Vietnamese Portland project at Watzek Library.
