Facebook Design Summit

Date: 8:00am - 5:00pm PDT June 26 Location: Virtual

Virtual

Join us for our second annual Design Summit, which takes place virtually on Thursday, June 25, and Friday, June 26, 2020.

We’re living through a challenging period and now, more than ever, design is being called upon to solve complex problems for people across the globe. While we can’t gather in person this year due to coronavirus (COVID-19), we’re still able to support aspiring product designers and content strategists in pursuing their interests and developing their talents through this virtual program.

This two-day virtual program is open to students from all North American schools who identify as part of a historically underrepresented group in the technology industry, including but not limited to Black, Hispanic, and Native American students, students with disabilities and veterans.

Each selected participant will have the opportunity to join workshops, portfolio reviews, and interview preparation sessions, as well as spend valuable time learning and collaborating with Facebook product designers, content strategists and design leadership. The overall goal of the Summit is to help students prepare for careers within product design and content strategy.

Testimonials:

“Trying to break into a new field can be intimidating and something I’ve been struggling with over the past year. As my love for design has grown, the goal of actually doing the work has felt further and further away. Thankfully, I was able to spend this past weekend at the Facebook headquarters for their inaugural Design Summit talking to product designers and other creatives in tech, which has left me with a renewed hope, love, and appreciation for the field.”

“The information I learned in that short 36-hour period will be applied throughout my career. The Design Summit was an eye-opener to what I could be doing in the near future if I keep growing and challenging myself in my craft. You have given me confidence that I will end up carrying with me for the rest of my life and I am very appreciative of the time and effort you put into this event.”

“I wasn’t aware of how impactful design is at Facebook with over 2 billion users around the world, and it changed my perception about the scope of the role of a designer. Designing for all the languages around the world, for accessibility and for emerging markets opened up my mind. It was also a great surprise getting to know product designers with many different backgrounds who have different perspectives and that all of their experiences are valued at Facebook.”
