Matthew Kish is a reporter for the Portland Business Journal, the weekly business newspaper, in Portland, Oregon. He writes about the sportswear industry, banking and general business news. He also runs a nationwide investigative reporting workshop for parent company American City Business Journals. During the 2017-18 academic year, he was one of 10 fellows in the prestigious Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in Economics and Business Journalism at Columbia University. His reporting has won several awards, including the Bruce Baer Award, Oregon’s top journalism prize. He occasionally teaches journalism at the University of Portland. He previously reported for the Indianapolis Business Journal and the Oregon Health Forum. He started his career at The Arizona Republic. Kish holds a certificate in business and economics journalism from Columbia University, a master’s degree from Reed College and a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Dominican College. He and his wife, Melissa Jones, live in Portland with their young son.
