More on the Speakers

Michael Kaplan joined Lewis & Clark as the Managing Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship in August of 2013 with more than 20 years of experience working in law, business, entrepreneurship, and investment capital. He has worked in and with organizations from start-up businesses to Fortune 500 companies, as well as higher education institutions and government and done so in industries ranging from energy to health care.  Kaplan holds degrees in economics and law and has lectured on entrepreneurship at several universities.

Kaplan is a cofounder and continues to serve as the managing principal of the Portland based firm Revenue Capital Management, a venture capital fund that makes royalty-based investments in growth companies.  He is the 2013-14 president of the Revenue Capital Association, and recently served as chair for the Portland Angel Network Deal Screening and Investments Committee.  As a member of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network (OEN), Kaplan serves as an active mentor to young entrepreneurs and business founders.  He and his wife have lived in Portland for more than twenty years, and as big fans of Portland encourage you to visit if you haven’t before!

Micah Leinbach ’14 is an Environmental Studies senior with an interest in education, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. He is set to graduate after participating in an overseas trip to Vietnam. In his junior year he “restarted” Crystalaire Adventures, an outdoor education and adventure company in northern Michigan, and will continue to work on the company after he leaves Lewis & Clark.
Micah has served in a range of leadership roles while on campus, from working with the school paper to pushing an overhaul of student government. He was a participant in the College’s first “Entrepreneurship Winterim,” and has been heavily involved with sustainability initiatives on campus. A College Outdoors trip leader, he credits a combination of outdoor leadership skills and an entrepreneurial attitude as the source of his success, both on and off-campus.
