Latin American and Latino Studies film series kicks off with “Machuca”

On October 6th, the Latin American and Latino Studies Department will be hosting its first Film Series event - a viewing of the film Machuca by Andrés Woods. 

On October 6th, the Latin American and Latino Studies Department will be hosting its first Film Series event - a viewing of the film Machuca by Andrés Woods.
Taking Place in Chile during the 1970s, this coming of age story unfolds during the months preceding the coup that overthrew Salvador Allende. In 2004, it received the Most Popular International Film Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
This Film Showing will be preceded by an introduction by Professor Freddy Vilches of the Latino and Latin American Studies Department. 

Future Latin American and Latino Studies film screenings include Relatos Salvajes on October 30th, and Embrace of the Serpent on November 30th.
