PERFORMANCE:

‘night, Mother by Marsha Norman
Directed by Hannah Brunner
Featuring Maddy Noonan and Shanan Wolfe
Thursday, April 24 & Saturday, April 26 at 7:30pm
Fir Acres Black Box Theatre

“Marsha Norman’s ‘night, Mother tells a story of one night in the lives of Thelma and Jessie Cates. The mother and daughter deal with the issues of love and loss, of blame and amnesty, of strangers in a family, of the unknown and the unknowable. What happens when all of our best efforts don’t amount to anything? In the midst of groceries and candy jars, shoeboxes and kitchen pots, lies a choice between life and death – and Jessie has made hers.”

ORIGINAL STAGED PLAY READING:

Let me tell you about Eden by Nikhil Mahapatra
Friday, April 25 at 7:30pm
Fir Acres Black Box Theatre

“You can be anything. Follow your dream. You’re the only thing holding you back”

These words are thrown around on a daily basis. But is this the truth of the matter? In this play, one man struggles with furthering his art, while one woman struggles with the weight of reality and the seductive qualities of her dream. Together, they run the chance of achieving great success or hilarious failure, and on the way, maybe revealing something about ourselves and our aspirations.

PRESENTATION:

A look Into the Light: An exploration of lighting dance
Presenter: Erin Yoshida
Friday, April 25 at 9:00pm
Fir Acres Main Stage Theatre

How can light help bring a dance to life? Does it change the way an audience understands a dance? Many people are unaware of how influential lighting—or shadows—can be in the way people experience dance.

The presentation will examine the work of pioneers of dance lighting and introduce some of their foundational approaches. It will also challenge the audience to notice the effects light has on the way they respond to the two dance demonstrations, which will be part of the presentation.
