Canoe Family Gathering
Date: 1:00pm - 5:00pm PDT April 23, 2011 Location: SOA Lawn
Canoe Family Gatherings are a celebration in which canoe families to come together and sing traditional canoeing songs. They promote the passing down of cultural heritage and serve as a way of preserving Native identity and tradition.
The event will have two families: the Warm Springs Canoe Family and the Swinomish Canoe Family. Each will share songs and stories about the canoe. Participation is greatly encouraged as people will be able to sit and watch as well as join in on some of the dancing. Come and share this experience with us.
