Heather Kitada graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 2012 with honors in Mathematics and a minor in Economics. While at Lewis & Clark she worked for Standard insurance in downtown Portland doing actuarial and experience rated refunding work. In addition, she worked with Prof. Naiomi Cameron in enumerative combinatorics and presented their findings at over ten conferences. Currently, she is at Oregon State University doing graduate work in Statistics and is a member of the first cohort of the new Graduate Certificate in College and University Teaching Program. This week at the math colloquium she will speak about taking the GRE, applying to graduate schools, funding, and what graduate school is like.
Professor Lisa Madsen is the Director of Graduate Studies for the OSU Statistics Department and will be speaking specifically about the program at OSU. Dr. Madsen also does research in dependent discrete data, abundance and occupancy models, spatial statistics, statistical computing and simulation, environmental statistics.
