FINANCIAL CRISIS & THE FATE OF EUROPE • GEORGE PAPANDREOU (Prime Minister of Greece, 2009-2011)
One of Foreign Policy magazine’s “Top 100 Global Thinkers,” Papandreou gives a close-up picture of the state of the Eurozone today and the future of the European Union. What are the lessons learned from Greece’s management of fiscal crisis and can Europe remain a strong economic power alongside the U.S. and China?
Every year the Oregon World Affairs Council puts on a series of speakers featuring some of the most influential people in the world. This year’s speakers are George Papandreou, Mona Eltahawy and Richard Leakey.
Tickets are $37.50 for this year’s series of three speakers (or $12.50 per speaker), but ASLC and Student Activities are re-selling tickets to students for $6 each (or $18 for all three of this year’s speakers). You can only purchase one ticket per speaker. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a ticket, and be sure to specify which speaker(s) you want tickets for. Tickets will be distributed on a rolling basis throughout this semester and you can pay for your ticket(s) when you pick them up (cash only please) from Student Activities (lower level of Templeton in the Campus Living suite). Send your requests and pick up/pay for your tickets soon because there is a limited number of tickets and they are available on a first-come basis!
