Please join us in congratulating Associate Professor of History and Department Chair Reiko Hillyer on the upcoming publication of her latest book, A Wall is Just a Wall: The Permeability of the Prison in 20th Century America (Duke University Press, February 16, 2024). Influenced by her work teaching in the Inside-Out program, Hillyer traces the decline of practices that used to connect incarcerated people more regularly to the free world.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Ramadan, one of the holiest months of the year for Muslims, is expected to begin at sundown on Monday, March 11 (based on the official sighting of the moon) and conclude on April 9. Ramadan Mubarak (pronounced “Mu-ba-rack”) is a greeting that means congratulations on the arrival of the holy month. Ramadan Kareem can also be used as a greeting and literally means “Generous Ramadan.”

We in the Office of Spiritual Life wish all of our Lewis & Clark Muslim community Ramadan Mubarak this week as Muslims enter this month of devotion and fasting.

Student Counseling Center x IME - The Let Out

The Let Out is a space where Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) students can engage with one another through sharing, listening, and supporting one another. It is facilitated by one of our on-campus mental health counselors. These spaces of support can sometimes happen over games, crafts, or food. The counselor is there to guide discussions and answer questions about mental health challenges while offering ways to cope while at college.
