International Law Research Fellow Named
The International Law Committee has selected 3L Kelsey Chapman-Sutton as the International Law Research Fellow for the 2023-24 school year.
The International Law Committee is pleased to announce the selection of Kelsey Chapman-Sutton, 3L, as the International Law Research Fellow for the 2023-24 academic year. In her capacity as Fellow, Kelsey will provide research support to the Committee and to individual faculty members on issues involving diverse fields within international law, including international business, dispute resolution, environmental law, and animal law.
Kelsey obtained her undergraduate degree from Pitzer College, with a major in dance. Kelsey spent a year at the Georgetown University Law Center before transferring to Lewis & Clark Law School. Before coming to law school, she wrote and edited articles for a variety of publications, as well as for nonprofits including Child Foundation and the Voices and Faces Project.
At Lewis & Clark Law School, Kelsey has focused her studies on criminal law, human rights, and international law. Having lived in Israel after college, she has a particular passion for history, politics, policy, and law in Israel and the Middle East. Kelsey is in the midst of two individual research projects, supervised by Professors Maloney and Parry. The first paper explores law and rhetoric of acts of violence in the lead-up to the 2014 Gaza War. The second focuses on terrorism and counter-terrorism in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula in the early twenty-first century.
The International Law faculty looks forward to working with Kelsey.
