Daniel Madhavan

Lewis & Clark’s entrepreneurship minor helped me get my internship, and the best part of the experience is the independence I get while working. I’ve learned how to research and be more effective over time rather than being handed a blueprint.

Analyst, Paine Pacific

What three words would you use to describe L&C?

Green, Opportunistic, Small

What is your internship this summer, and what are your basic duties?

My internship is currently with Paine Pacific, a transaction advisory firm based out of Portland. I have been working as an analyst for our sell side clients in merger and acquisitions. My duties consist of identifying, screening, and outreach of new targets for over eight clients, and completing tasks such as industry research, data gathering, and looking through financial reports.

What’s the best part of your internship?

The best part of the internship is the independence I get while working. Since the start of the internship, I was told I could have my own process of identifying new targets. This greatly benefited me as I learned how to research and be more effective over time rather than being handed a blueprint.

How has Lewis & Clark supported you in the process of finding and securing your internship?

Lewis & Clark supported the process of finding my internship through the entrepreneurship internship course. All the students applied and secured an internship during the school year, and I ended up extending my internship into the summer and now will continue to work for them over the school year.

How do you see this internship leading to a career in your chosen field and aiding in your overall career development?

I see this internship opening the path to a career in finance. I now have an entry into the industry, which will be very helpful when applying to jobs out of college.
