What’s your favorite class? Why?

My favorite class that I have taken has been Culture/Power in the Middle East. It is in the sociology and anthropology department, and I really enjoyed what I was learning, and the papers we wrote were actually enjoyable because they were always on a topic that actually interested me.

What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?

I was drawn to Lewis & Clark partially because of its size. I knew I wanted a smaller school experience. I wanted to be able to connect with my professors, and wanted to feel a sense of community, and I do.

What do you like or find most interesting about your major?

What I find most interesting about my major is how many options I have. Computer science is such a vast field and I am able to explore different sectors within my major while acquiring the skills I want.

What do you like or find most interesting about your minor?

What I find most interesting about RHMS is how it is able to encapsulate so many things, from film to public speeches. Analyzing media as a whole is very interesting because there are just so many forms of media.

Tell us about your support systems and social outlets on campus: people, activities, clubs, res halls, etc.

As a Posse Scholar, I am always supported by my cohort of other students and my Posse mentor. Thankfully, I came in here with strong friendships, which made branching out and meeting new people a little less scary. I also feel empowered to reach out to my professors, especially if I am having a hard time with a class specifically. I also find the Office of Student Accessibility to be a great resource.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

The advice that I have for incoming students is to lean on their community. Take advantage of the fact that this campus is very small and tight-knit.

How did your financial aid package influence your decision to attend Lewis & Clark?

My financial aid package was a large part of my decision to attend Lewis & Clark. I received a full tuition scholarship, and was not guaranteed to be able to attend college without a scholarship.

Which residence halls have you lived in? How would you describe the hall’s personality? What is/was the best thing about living on campus?

I have lived in Akin, Platt-Howard, and West. I would describe Akin as quiet and cozy, Platt-Howard as fun and charming, and West as also quiet, and spacious. The best thing about living on campus is that you bump into a lot more people. You are simply on campus more and so are the other people who stay on campus, and I feel like it warrants more socialization.
