After receiving your key, please proceed to Maggie’s Plaza to check-in for NSO! You will receive your welcome packet, orange meal band, and NSO shirt. f you are not living on campus, you should check in for NSO by 2:30 p.m.
If you mailed any packages to campus, please collect them at the white pop-up tent in the parking lot near Platt Hall and McAfee. You will be responsible for taking your packages back to your room.

Students who have not taken their French or Spanish placement exam or those who need to confirm their 202+ placement exam scores can do so today. Exams begin on the hour (last exam begins at 1 p.m.). If you cannot make these times or have questions, please contact Blair Orfall at blairorfall@lclark.edu.If you have not studied the language at all, you will register for the 101 level.

This lunch is designed for new first-year and transferstudents who identify as a student of color and/or a first-generation college student (defined as: neither parents earned a bachelor’s degree in the U.S.). This is an informal lunch as we expect students to come in and out of NSO activities, so please stop by if you can and say hello!

In Japan, “shinrin-yoku” is a mindfulness practice in which people immerse themselves in the sounds of nature. Shinrin means “forest,” and yoku means “bath.” Join other new students and Director of Spiritual Life Hilary Martin Himan in this mindfulness practice to destress, be present, and experience awe and wonder in your new neighborhood. Whether or not you have a spiritual or religious practice, forest bathing is accessible to all. Please bring a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes.
