Remaining Summer Tasks
Coming to Lewis & Clark College - Stories from Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors: June 19-July 21
We’re giving you the opportunity to hear stories from current and former students about their experience coming to Lewis & Clark and the chance to share your thoughts and feelings about coming to college. Your responses will give future students a better idea about what to expect, and we thank you in the advance for your participation. You will receive a personalized link in an email invitation on June 19, and we encourage you to complete this 30-minute activity by July 14. The final deadline is July 21, 2017.
Online Education Course - July 19-August 19
Our community is one that cares for one another and encourages all of our members to support fellow students to make choices that will enable them to be successful in and out of the classroom. During your four years at Lewis & Clark, we will provide you with numerous opportunities for you to build skills to support healthy decision-making. One of the first tools we are providing you is an educational course that will help you to begin a successful career at the college. Completing the course will help you navigate potentially risky situations that might arise in the course of your time with us. In addition, it will provide you with tips on how you can better take care of yourself, establish healthy relationships, and support others who may need help. You will receive an invitation to start the course by email during the week of July 19. This is a mandatory program that all first-year and transfer students must complete before August 19, 2017.
StrengthsQuest Inventory: August 7-18
You might think that career development is just about finding a job after graduation, but at Lewis & Clark we want to begin your career development much sooner! You will be receiving an email on August 8 with instructions and a link to complete StrengthsQuest, a tool to discover some of your natural talents. This is an opportunity for you to start thinking about who you are and how that knowledge will hep you succeed at Lewis & Clark. You will want to complete StrengthsQuest by August 19. (If you’ve been accepted to a New Student Trip, please complete StrengthsQuest before you depart for your trip.) It’s important that you print your results, review them, and bring the report with you for New Student Orientation.
Pioneer Success Institute Registration: August 14-18
Although you will spend six days engaged in New Student Orientation (August 30-September 4), there isn’t adequate time to fully prepare you for your transition to college in just a few days. The Pioneer Success Institute (PSI), in its fourth year, is a seminar series that all degree-seeking students must take in their first semester at Lewis & Clark. PSI sessions meet once a week for 90 minutes for six weeks (beginning the second week of the semester) to support your transition into the Lewis & Clark community and to explore topics that include academic success, wellness, leadership opportunities, and social justice.
Once you have completed your course registration on August 3, you will need to select a PSI section on WebAdvisor. Please select a section that can be accommodated into your class schedule. Each PSI cohort of approximately 30 new students will meet weekly with a staff or faculty member and a student co-facilitator at a prescribed time and location.
