Native Student Union (NSU)

The co-leaders are Annabelle Rousseau affiliated with the Miniconjou (Cheyenne River Sioux) and Jenn Sosa Ramirez descendant of the Yucatec Mayas in Mexico.

The Native Student Union (NSU) is a collection of Lewis & Clark students both indigenous and curious dedicated to the study, reflection, and celebration of Indigenous cultures and histories worldwide. Our vision is to unite native students and their allies through insightful discussion, introducing them to relevant speakers and sources, and creating an open and safe space conducive to a community of Medicine.

In native communities, Medicine is defined as anything necessary and beneficial to the mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being of the individual and the community; an ideal we hope to share with NSU members, L&C students, and the greater community at large. In the same way that food, family, and dance are Medicine, the NSU community provides a source of Medicine to students through its various missions and endeavors.
