What did you do at your internship?
I performed research on Russian civil society, legislative monitoring and analysis on counter-kleptocracy policy at the Free Russia Foundation. I also attended meetings relating to a sanctions coalition process aimed at stopping Russian military aggression in Ukraine.
How did Lewis & Clark’s Career Center support you in finding, securing, and/or funding your internship?
The internship required me to live in Washington D.C. for two months. Lewis & Clark’s Career Center provided me with funding of $1700 which helped me cover transportation and living costs.
What is your biggest takeaway from your internship?
This internship provided me with crucial insight into the day-to-day work at a political think tank in the heart of D.C. I expanded my knowledge of think tanks and lobbying groups and their relationship with the US Congress.
How is this internship connected to your career goals and/or future aspirations?
Interning at The Fund for American Studies helped me come closer to deciding what sphere I want to develop a career in. It confirmed the validity of my interest in democratic resilience in Eastern Europe and showed me areas in which I need to develop myself further.
