Curatorial Statement:
The Ray Warren Symposium Art Exhibition explores race, identity, and belonging in relation to home. Through visual art, the participating artists explore the ways in which home is both a physical place and state of being. Together, the works stimulate a dialectic investigation of racial and personal identity and the spaces in which this process takes place.
The pieces in this show were carefully selected to draw attention to the multiple conceptualizations of home. These artists call attention to social injustices rising from systematic oppressions and speak to personal experiences exploring diasporic identity.
