Lewis & Clark Committees

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
Any member of the Lewis & Clark community planning to conduct research involving live, vertebrate animals must have that research reviewed and approved by the IACUC prior to research initiation. Lewis & Clark’s Public Health Service (PHS) Assurance number is A4746-01.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Any member of the Lewis & Clark community planning to conduct research involving recombinant DNA, synthetic nucleic acid molecules, and/or infectious agents or toxins must have that research reviewed and approved by the IBC prior to research initiation. The IBC ensures that the College is compliant with applicable regulations and that the health and safety of employees and the public regarding such research.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Any member of the Lewis & Clark community planning to conduct research involving human participants must have that research reviewed and approved by the IRB prior to research initiation. The IRB is a specially constituted review body established or designated to protect the welfare of human subjects recruited to participate in biomedical or behavioral research. Lewis & Clark’s Federalwide Assurance (FWA) Assurance Number is FWA00013631.
