    7 - 9 p.m. - All Alumni Opening Social of the Sesquicentennial Celebration at Alumni Weekend
    Kick off the celebration with some delicious appetizers, drinks, and merriment! Enjoy the best the Northwest has to offer like charcuterie and cheese from Olympia Provisions, Rogue Creamery, Ancient Heritage Dairy and Briar Rose Creamery. Also on the menu, Grand Central Bakery bread, marinated vegetables, olives, dried fruits, marcona almonds, fresh garden vegetables, spicy lentil tahini spread, and greek yogurt dip. Strawberry lemonade, lemonade, ice tea, beer and A to Z Wineworks wine will also be served.

    10 a.m. - 4 p.m. - Double Decker PDX  
    The bus will pick up in front of Templeton hourly, last pick up at 3 pm, please see the schedule below. Then it’s off to the Duniway Portland, a Hilton hotel between 5th and 6th Avenue on Taylor in downtown Portland. From the Duniway, it goes to 10th and Oak, around the corner from Powell’s City of Books and close to the Pearl and Alphabet Districts. Finally it goes back to campus to do it all again. The last pick-up in front of Templeton is 3 p.m. The last drop-off is 4 p.m. Double Decker PDX is not wheelchair accessible. If you would like to go to a Double Decker Bus destination but need accessible transportation, please email alumni@lclark.edu and we will make accommodations.

    Do you have a high school aged child who is thinking about college? The Lewis & Clark Office of Admissions invites you to attend a workshop on the college search process. This introductory program will include an overview, and specific breakout sessions on: researching different types of institutions, preparing for selective college admissions, making the most of college visits, the application essay, and financial aid. If you plan to attend, please register with the Office of Admissions

    3 - 3:45 p.m. -  Pioneer College - Celebrating What We Have Achieved Together at Lewis & Clark:  Where Our History and Future Converge
    This interactive visual presentation by Michael Ford, retired Associate Vice President for Campus Life and 2016 Balmer Alumni Citation recipient, tells the history of the College by highlighting individual and collective initiatives and renewal over 150 years. Emphasizing the building of both academic and co-curricular traditions that bind this College community together, Michael will invite you to remember how you helped shape this College and to explore how you continue to influence your alma mater, as history and future converge.

    3:30 - 5 p.m. Spiritual Life Reception
    Connect and reconnect with Dean of Spiritual Life Mark Duntley at a reception at his home, across the street from campus. Get up to date on what is happening in Spiritual Life today at Lewis & Clark. 

    4 - 4:45 p.m. - Pioneer College - The Hidden Archive: Exploring Special Collections at Lewis & Clark
    Join Hannah Crumme, Head of Special Collections & College Archivist, for a book display and discussion as we examine the holdings of Lewis & Clark’s special collections and archives. Library treasures include rare Bibles, 500-year old documents, and records of the early history of the college. Come examine these rare objects and see what you discover!

    5 - 7 p.m. - CLASS OF 1968 SOCIAL and REUNION DINNER
    Enjoy a special social hour and reunion dinner in honor of your Golden Reunion. The menu includes hummus, tzatziki, quinoa tabbouleh and pita chips for starters. On the menu for dinner is artisan bread and sea salt butter, salad of arugula, fennel, watermelon radish and mixed local berries with golden balsamic vinaigrette. The main dish is grilled harissa chicken or mixed mushrooms, topped with orange-roasted olives and cherry tomatoes, accompanied by lemon basil fingerlings, blistered sugar snap peas and sweet peppers with house-made fried garlic and chile oil, and sea salt.

    Current and past members of the Board of Alumni and their guest are invited to kick-off our 150 anniversary celebration in style and enjoy dinner together followed by a hosted concert of the Portland Cello Project. 

    On the menu for dinner is artisan bread and sea salt butter, salad of arugula, fennel, watermelon radish and mixed local berries with golden balsamic vinaigrette.     7:30 p.m. - Portland Cello Project Concert in honor of the Lewis & Clark Sesquicentennial
    The Portland Cello Project is a nationally recognized performance group with a large revolving cast of cellists. The Portland Cello Project has released full-length albums, performed in punk rock clubs, at exclusive private events, and symphony halls all over North America. Their diverse repertoire features well over 1,000 musical pieces.

    Also, special for Thursday night, Dan O’Sullivan ’84 will be performing. Dan O’Sullivan ’84 brings his jazzy acoustic rock featuring powerful and intricate guitar work to Maggie’s. Dan will perform original songs plus covers from Sinatra to Metallica, Steely Dan to Nirvana, Grateful Dead to…   Come hang and help finish this sentence!

    11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Golden Medallion Luncheon
    All members of the Albany Society and friends are invited to celebrate with the classes of 1953, 1958, 1963, and 1968. At the luncheon, members of the class of 1968 will be inducted into the Albany Society. The Albany Society is an honorary society for those who graduated 50 or more years ago.

    On the menu is soft rolls and sea salt butter, summer lettuce and pea tendril salad with cinnamon pistachios, local strawberries & champagne vinaigrette (vegan, made without gluten), glazed local baby carrots (vegan, made without gluten), seared herb risotto cakes (made without gluten), fennel-crusted chicken breast with burnt lemon cauliflower cream (made without gluten), quinoa en croute with burnt lemon cauliflower cream (vegan, made without gluten) and parfait (made without gluten).

    Alumni of color across the decades can enjoy a lunch together. 

    1 p.m. - The Survivor Showing and Q & A with Writer/Director Danial Afzal ’13
    The Survivor, a short documentary film, follows the story of Muneeb, who survived the 2014 attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan. Muneeb must deal with the loss of his brother Shaheer in the massacre, and with survivor’s guilt, PTSD and inner turmoil as he attempts to move on in his life. The film has earned many nominations and awards. Writer/Director Danial Afzal ’13 will be available for questions, after the showing. Read more about Danial Afzal and his film.

    1 - 2 p.m. - Albany Society Linger Longer
    For those Albany Society members who need longer to visit or a place to relax before the Greek gathering later in the afternoon, the Manor House Armstrong Lounge will be the gathering place.

    1-2:30pm - Visit the Weissman Lab (Middle and High School age)
    Come and visit the Weissman Lab, Tamily Weissman will give a short presentation about Brainbow.   Visitors will be able to see living adult and developing zebrafish and also learn about how they are using color-coded cells in the brain to study nervous system development.  This will be a cool visit for any aspiring researchers!

    2 - 2:45 p.m. - Pioneer College - Reflections on Four Decades Serving America Abroad, Niels Marquardt ’75, L&C’s 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient
    Niels Marquardt was most recently CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia. Prior to this time, his career with the U.S. State Department spanned administrations from Jimmy Carter to Barack Obama and service as ambassador to four African nations and as consul general in Sydney.

    A reunion social for all sorority and fraternity alumni.

    Use scrip to decide which of the delicious global offerings you’d like to sample. International alumni are welcome to invite their host families to join the dinner; please register them online or send them the link to register. At the dinner, enjoy performances by Portland Taiko, the Obo Addy Legacy Project and Latin music performed by our very own Lewis & Clark professor of Hispanic Studies and Director of Latin America Studies, Freddy Vilches.

    6 -7 p.m.- Shabbat Service and Dinner

    7:30 - 9 p.m. - CLASS REUNIONS DESSERT SOCIAL
    Dessert reception in honor of all ’40s and ’50s alumni, as well as the classes of 1963,  1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2013.

    8:30 - 10 p.m. - Vietnam and Nixon Era Alumni Gathering
    Alumni from the classes of 1968 to 1974, or those who feel an affinity to that group, are invited to attend this gathering. “There is something that people attending college during those years have in common - the Vietnam/Nixon years and the loss of innocence and belief in the government that first came about with the Pentagon Papers, Vietnam and Watergate.  We lived through all of that and it creates a common bond,” says Merrilee MacLean ’74. Come reconnect with your peers from the era.

    9 - 11 p.m. - Watzek 50th Anniversary Dance Party
    Not only is Lewis & Clark turning 150 years old, the Aubrey R. Watzek Library is celebrating 50 years. Come dance and celebrate in the stacks while Dan Yaker spins the tunes!

    A no-host bar will be available in the library. Remember to bring along some cash if you would like a soft drink, beer or wine. 

    9:30 p.m. - Moonlight A Capella with B-Side Book Club
    B-Side Book Club is a group of mostly Lewis & Clark alumni, all of whom participated in collegiate A Cappella during their undergrad years and wanted to continue singing together beyond graduation. Their mission is to creatively produce music that is enjoyable, beautiful, and meaningful.

    10:30 p.m.  - Late Night Shenanigans
    Sprinklers turn on around campus at 10:30 p.m., feel free to frolic!

    9 -10 a.m. - Tryon Creek State Park Hike
    The hike is an easy one so all ages are welcome. Explore the beautiful natural area right next to campus and maybe you’ll see a pair of the pileated woodpeckers that live there, or spy some of the other wildlife that permeate the park. This hike is not accessible to those in a wheelchair or for those who have difficulty navigating dirt paths and uneven ground.(This is a free event. No registration is necessary.)  

    9 am - 5 p.m. - College Book Store Open 

    10 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - All Decades Champagne Brunch
    On the menu for this brunch are fried chicken and waffle bar with assorted toppings: strawberry compote, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, maple syrup, and bacon bourbon glaze. Also scrambled eggs, tofu and seasonal vegetable scramble, herb roasted breakfast potatoes with caramelized onions, applewood smoked bacon, fresh fruit, granola and yogurt, Bobs Red Mill Oatmeal with toppings, breakfast pastries and donut holes. Hosted Mimosas, soda, juice, milk, coffee, and tea are also included.

    10 a.m. Pioneer College- Poetry Reading and Turtle Artwork Demonstration with Rosemary Douglas Lombard, Class of 1962
    Rosemary Douglas Lombard ’62 is an animal behaviorist who studies turtle cognition. Rosemary studies and does artwork with pancake tortoises and box turtles. She will be reading from her book, Turtles All the Way: Poems, inspired by her work. She will also demonstrate how turtles draw.

    12- 12:45 p.m. - Pioneer College - A History of World Music in Seven Cities
    Join Kaley Mason, Assistant Professor of Music and Area Coordinator for World Music,  for a look at key moments, places, and media of intercultural encounter that prepared the way for thinking globally about music. While also highlighting Lewis & Clark’s unique history as a pioneering ethnomusicology program in the Pacific Northwest.

    1 - 2 p.m. - Sesquicentennial Celebration Ceremony
    Join us for a special gathering as we celebrate the college’s 150th anniversary and look to the future! Hear from our new President, Wim Wiewel, on his vision for the future, celebrate our Alumni Weekend volunteers, enjoy music from the alumni choir, and hear the class giving results! All attendees will receive a commemorative sesquicentennial pint or wine glass.

    1 - 2 p.m. - Children’s Programming- Tears of Joy Puppet Theatre (ages 3 and older)
    Tears of Joy will treat their fans to a puppet show, The Vain Little Mouse, and lead them in a craft.

    Celebrate 150 years of Lewis & Clark! Take a swim in the estate pool, play lawn games, or just relax with friends! Don’t miss the birthday cake! 

    A no-host bar will be available in the Estate Garden. Remember to bring along some cash if you would like a soft drink, beer or wine. Cash only.

    2 - 3:30 p.m. - Gamelan Performance at the Birthday Party in the Estate Gardens
    Lewis & Clark’s Venerable Showers of Beauty gamelan will provide music at the Birthday Party.

    2 - 2:45 p.m. - Pioneer Manor House Tour 
    Tour guide Donna Lawrence ’52 will show you around the Frank Manor House which was the women’s dorm when Donna was a student between 1948 and 1952. Learn a little history, some Manor House features you may not have noticed, and hear about some dorm shenanigans!

    2 - 2:45 p.m. - Pioneer College- Oregon’s Backwoods Utopias: Communitarian Movements, 1855-2018, Stephen Dow Beckham, L&C’s 2017 Don Balmer Citation Recipient
    Professor Emeritus Stephen Beckham has selected a dozen alternative living communities (secular, religious, communist, lesbian, socialist, pacifist, and the like) ranging from the Aurora Colony, to Rajneeshpuram, to Tryon Life Community Farm and placed them in the context of American Utopian movements.

    Professor Emeritus John Callahan asks: “Was there silence then?  Is there now?  And what’s the good of silence?  Maybe noise is a good anesthetic against the craziness all around. Or maybe it moves us toward a dangerous, even fatal tuning out. I’d like to know what and how you and I think now.”

    6 - 8 p.m. - All Class Northwest Salmon Bake & BBQ
    Come together with the whole Lewis & Clark community to enjoy salmon caught and prepared by the Charley Family. The Russell Charley family, members of the Warm Springs Tribe, will prepare salmon on wood cooking sticks over an open fire pit. Also enjoy watermelon, feta & mint salad, seasonal green salad, seasonal pasta salad, potato chips, corn on the cob, with butter & fleur de sel, smoked chiles and herbs, burgers, garden burgers (vegan), lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, roasted peppers, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onion spread, sriracha aioli, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. Drinks will include beer, and  A to Z Wineworks wine. Cheryl Francis ’92 is one of four founders of A to Z. Soft drinks will also be available.

    Mo Phillips ’98 brings his classic rockin’ ways to the Salmon Bake. Mo has a fine, distilled blend of Americana, Soul and Blues, while not being afraid of a poppy hook or straight rockin’ out. His music is built for kids and parents alike.

    8:30 - 11 p.m. - Pio Pub
    Sip alumni beer and wine on campus. Italian sodas are also on the menu along with light snacks.

    Boulder Beer Company by David Zuckerman ’87, Drinking Horse Brewing Company by Emerson Lenon ’12 & Tim Schaaf ’02, Leikam Brewing by Theo ’03 & Sonia Marie Leikam ’03, and Moonshrimp Brewing (gluten-free beer) by Daniel McIntosh-Tolle ’07 will be providing the Pio Pub beer.

    A to Z Wine by Cheryl Francis ’92 will also be served at the Pio Pub.

    You must be at least 21 years old to participate.

    Dan O’Sullivan ’84 brings his jazzy acoustic rock featuring powerful and intricate guitar work to the Pio Pub. Dan will perform original songs plus covers from Sinatra to Metallica, Steely Dan to Nirvana, Grateful Dead to…   Come hang and help finish this sentence!

    8:30 - 11 p.m. - Golden Oldies in the Trail Room
    Join fellow alumni for songs of the 60’s and 70’s.  You know the songs; you know the words.  It will be an interactive acoustic evening, led by fellow grads - bring your guitar or other favorite instrument (including your voice) and share in the harmonies.

    10:30 p.m.  - Late Night Shenanigans
    Sprinklers turn on around campus at 10:30 p.m., feel free to frolic!

    Return your keys in the envelopes they were provided in before you depart campus. Drop keys at the Campus Safety/Information Office located at Gate 3. There is a $150 charge for unreturned keys.

    7:30 - 11 a.m. - Maggie’s
    Pastries, chilaquiles bowl - chips, salsa, beans, cheese, egg or tofu, roasted peppers, espresso and other beverages available for purchase. Maggie’s is in Roberts Hall. Find it on the map.

    9 a.m. - 3 p.m. - College Book Store Open

    10 a.m. - Alumni Choir Concert
    Featuring the Alumni Choir and Chris Keady ’10 on the Casavant organ.  

    10 am - 4 pm - Double Decker PDX 
    Bus picks up hourly in front of Templeton Campus Center then heads off to Saturday Market, which happens on Sunday too. Then it’s off to the Duniway Portland, a Hilton hotel between 5th and 6th Avenue on Taylor in downtown Portland. The last pick-up in front of Templeton is 3 p.m. The last drop-off is 4 p.m. Double Decker PDX is not wheelchair accessible. If you would like to go to a Double Decker Bus destination but need accessible transportation, please email alumni@lclark.edu and we will make accommodations.

    This lunch at the Cooley House with President Wiewel includes a shuttle to and from campus and entertainment by Dan Balmer ’80.

    Dan Balmer has long been considered one of the finest guitarists, composers, and educators in the Northwest. In 2009 Dan became one of only five Oregonians to be honored with membership in both The Oregon Music Hall of Fame and the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall of Fame. He is the youngest person to be included in both Halls, and is hailed by the Los Angles Times as, “the model of what a contemporary guitarist should be.”
