Anthony J. Ruiz has more than a decade of experience in the areas of government relations, strategic communications, and marketing. He is currently the Government Relations Manager at NV Energy where he works to build and strengthen the Company’s effectiveness with the federal delegation, Nevada Legislature, as well as city councils and county commissions throughout the State.

Previously, Anthony was Deputy Chief of Staff for Government Relations and Presidential Communications at Nevada State University, where he was responsible for external relations including local, state, and federal government strategy. He was instrumental in securing over $13 million in grants working with Nevada’s Congressional Delegation as well as an additional $126 million in construction funds for new academic buildings. He also developed the communications campaign and legislative strategy leading to the successful passage of Senate Bill 273, a bill to rename Nevada State College to Nevada State University.

Anthony also served as Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), where he directed marketing plans for economic development and managed government relations to support the organization’s mission to diversify and strengthen the regional economy. Additionally, Anthony worked with a Nevada nonprofit WaterStart to successfully advocate for the passage of Assembly Bill 261, a first-of-its-kind legislation that puts consumptive water use at the forefront of Nevada’s economic development plans.

Anthony is deeply engaged in service activities in the community. Anthony was previously appointed by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak to the Mining Oversight and Accountability Commission (MOAC) and served as chairman from 2021 to 2022. He currently serves on the board of directors for ImpactNV, Nevada Taxpayers Association, Rooted School Las Vegas, the Lewis & Clark College Board of Alumni, and is a member of the UNLV Alumni Association’s Advocacy Committee.

Anthony holds a bachelor’s degree from Lewis & Clark College with a dual degree in rhetoric & media studies and political science. He is also a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma and earned a Juris Doctor at the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
