Marlene Guzman ’19
Student Office Assistant
Marlene is from Altadena, California. Marlene is involved in the Alumni Parent Programs Office as a Student Office Assistant and a Reunion Assistant. She is also actively involved in the Student Leadership and Service Office as a Project Leader, where her primary role is co-leading volunteer trips to one of Hacienda CDC’s housing development sites. Additionally, she has been involved in the Coalition for English Education and Social Advocacy group on campus as well as has participated in Great Expectations as a LEAP Mentor.
Marlene is majoring in Environmental Studies, with a specific concentration in Urban Planning. Marlene is most interested in examining the role urban planning has in tackling issues of inequity, specifically by paying close attention to how resources and amenities are distributed throughout a city. She recently studied abroad in Dakar, Senegal, where she strengthened her French-speaking skills and her knowledge of Senegalese culture. During her free time Marlene enjoys hiking, embroidering, cooking and listening to podcasts.
