Sam graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 1979, where he earned degrees in business administration and English. He went on to attend the Oregon School of Design where he achieved a degree in architecture. In 1984, Sam joined PacTrust, working on the in-house design team and quickly transitioned to leasing and marketing after demonstrating strengths in deal-making.
His responsibilities include matching businesses in need of operating space with a PacTrust building or space suited for their enterprise. He has a reputation for transparency during the deal-making phase as well as an ability to bring together architectural and construction resources to best serve PacTrust tenants. His focus is on long-term relationships and continuing to meet the needs of tenants as their businesses grow. Several PacTrust tenants that Sam represents include: Intel, Applied Materials, Farmers Insurance and Stash Tea.
Sam is a past president of the Portland chapter of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, and the University Club of Portland. He currently serves on the board of the Westside Economic Alliance, a group that promotes the economic vitality of Washington County and its local businesses.
He and his wife, Carol (also a Lewis & Clark alumni), reside in Northwest Portland and have two adult daughters.
