What three words would you use to describe L&C?
What’s your favorite class? How has it expanded your knowledge?
I really enjoyed Advanced Japanese Society and Culture, taught by Hayashi Sensei. It was really interesting to read samples of Japanese literature in Japanese, and explore their uses of metaphors and such.
What made you want to come to Lewis & Clark?
My mother attended Lewis & Clark for her undergraduate degree, so I had heard a lot of good stories. L&C also has strong ties to the international community, and I was looking for a college on the West Coast that offered me the chance to continue learning Japanese.
How did you choose your overseas program? What did your time in Berlin add to your L&C experience?
I looked at going to Japan, but ultimately wanted to go somewhere that I had never been before. The reason that I chose the Berlin trip in particular was because it offered chemistry credit and a chance to travel somewhere new!
What advice do you have for prospective students?
In general, focus on time management, as it is never a non-useful skill. In regards to Lewis & Clark in particular, study outside while the weather is good! Campus is beautiful and you meet some really awesome people!
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
The reflecting pool, on a sunny day. It’s gorgeous!
