Favorite spot on campus: I know everyone says it, but the reflecting pool is so beautiful!
Little-known fact about me: I’ve always been an Anglophile. I discovered Jane Austen’s novels at a young age and planned British-themed tea parties for all my ensuing birthdays (including my 18th birthday, when I made all my friends drink tea and watch the Royal Wedding with me). I had the opportunity to study abroad in London in college and it was definitely one of the highlights of my college experience.
Piece of advice for students in the college search process: Trust yourself and trust the process. That may sound vague, but know that you will have many voices giving you advice and ideas throughout your college journey. Embrace the support of your family, friends, counselors, and mentors, but don’t let those voices drown out your own. Trust your instincts when you tour a campus and remember that ultimately it will be your individual college experience. Trust yourself to know whether a school feels like the right fit for you and whether you can envision yourself on that campus.
Favorite place to spend time in Portland: Powell’s bookstore is my absolute favorite place in Portland. On any given weekend, you can find me browsing in the blue room with my fellow book lovers.
If I was stranded on a desert island, I would want these three things: Plenty of water, a pen, and my journal. If I’m going to be stranded, I might as well write down my adventures and attempt to write some kind of novel, Robinson Crusoe style.
If I didn’t work in Admissions, I would be: Working for a nonprofit supporting college access and education equity.
