Andrew McPheeters

Associate Vice President for Community Education and Travel Programs

Andrew was born in Santa Paula, CA and went to middle school and high school in the Seattle area. After receiving an undergraduate degree in political science, Andrew went on to graduate school in higher education administration from Gonzaga University. It was at Gonzaga in Spokane, WA that Andrew started his career in higher education as an assistant dean of admissions while finishing his graduate studies. After a short stint as a resident hall director at Augustana College in South Dakota, Andrew moved to Japan to be an instructor of English and education for the Japanese Ministry of Education. Andrew then returned to Oregon to work at Concordia University for four years before going overseas again, this time to Switzerland. In beautiful Lugano, in Italian-speaking Switzerland, Andrew worked as dean of students at Franklin College. He headed plans to remodel and develop the school’s housing system. Despite the lovely life in Lugano, Andrew returned to Portland to be the dean of students at the National College of Natural Medicine. In four years at the college, he helped establish the office of alumni relations. Since Andrew joined the team at Lewis & Clark thirteen years ago, the Alumni and Parent Engagement Office has increased attendance at its functions and revitalized the homecoming tradition. “It’s special to see alumni from every decade sharing common values with the students of today. I enjoy facilitating connections between alumni and students. I have a great staff, work with a terrific group of volunteers on the Board of Alumni, and meet really interesting people throughout the L&C community.” In his free time, Andrew enjoys cooking, gardening, hiking and attending the theater. He is married to Deirdre and they have three children, Liam, Kai and Aidan. In addition to being an Asian cuisine enthusiast, Andrew loves starting the day with a double espresso and ending it with a bowl of Macha ice cream. Contact Andrew about:
