Parks Gilbert, LLM

Endangered Species Act Litigation Specialist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Parks Gilbert LLM ’13, now works as an Endangered Species Act Litigation Specialist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Formerly, Parks was an attorney at the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (AFWA). AFWA is the professional trade association for the 50 state fish and wildlife conservation agencies. Parks spent most of his time assisting with AFWA’s legal strategy, which focuses on supporting and restoring state legal authority over fish and wildlife resources. The program is primarily an educational effort for the legal community. Parks also worked on issues of national conservation policy and supported the general counsel in meeting AFWA’s legal needs. Parks finds that his time at Lewis and Clark helped introduce him to many issues he has encountered in practice, prepared him to work in an area of law that is highly regulatory, and exposed him to various perspectives held by governments and stakeholders in the environmental and natural resources field.
