Adelaide Byrum

Instructor of Arabic, Arabic Section Head

Adelaide Byrum received her BA in Arabic Language and Literature from Georgetown University in 2009 and her MA in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language from the University of Michigan in 2013. She taught beginning Arabic for a year at UM and then beginning, intermediate, and advanced Arabic courses as a lecturer at the University of Bayreuth in Germany for 2 years (2013-2015). She has studied in Lebanon, Syria, and Morocco and also worked in Yemen for a year. She hails from Pittsburgh and her academic interests include Arabic second language acquisition and pedagogy, Arabic poetry and the grammatical tradition.
