Apocalips fosters a community of writers, performers, and organizers that are passionate about spoken word and slam poetry. We teach writing skills, the development of personal voice, performance techniques, and encourage creativity and honesty mirrored in poetry and daily interactions. Apocalips aims to facilitate a non-hierarchical space for students to practice empathy through raw, honest expression and radical vulnerability. Apocalips connects students to each other, as well as uplifts student voices into larger spoken word circles. Every year we send a team to the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Poetry Slam Invitational to compete on a national stage and to bridge Lewis & Clarkâs community with slam scenes from other colleges.
