Utilizing the Internet in Diabetes Nutrition Education

Jessica’s project is about internet-based diabetes nutrition education programs. Jessica thinks this is an important issue because 11 percent of Americans have either type one or type 2 diabetes so a lot of people are affected. Few can get an education from a registered dietician because of access barriers. An online module for instructional content could help increase access.

What are your future plans?

“I’m still undecided however, taking this public health class has just got me very interested in public health as a field, an MPH (master in public health) may be an interesting graduate program for me and one thing I like about the health studies minor is that the internship would be a very nice experience.”

“Health Studies Minor classes are exciting as a biology major. It adds a nice supplement as a social science to dense science courses.”

This poster presentation was a final project for the Spring ’23 HEAL 210: Public Health course taught by Dr. Carolyn Zook and part of the Health Studies Minor.
