Mitch Daugherty

Entrepreneur in Residence

The Bates Center is pleased to welcome Mitch Daugherty from Built Oregon to its staff. Mitch officially started with the Center in September of 2022 but has been a supporter of the Center for many years as a Winterim mentor and internship provider for our students. His role will now expand to meet with students to advice and counsel on new business ideas. He has office hours in the eLab, (JR Howard #344) every Monday from 1pm - 3pm. Students can drop in during that time or email in advance to schedule a time. Mitch will also serve as our downtown (and all of Oregon) connection to business, nonprofit, and entrepreneurial orgs and individuals and bring leaders to campus for our Lunch with a Leader program and Winterim.

Mitch Daugherty began his entrepreneurial journey when he cofounded Arizona Outback Adventures (acquired by REI) after graduating from Arizona State University. Upon leaving AOA, he cofounded Morange Design, a digital design and strategy agency that worked with brands like Harbor Freight Tools, Paul Frank and the Power Rangers.

In 2017, he cofounded Built Oregon, a nonprofit focused on accelerating, connecting, and amplifying the consumer product ecosystem in Oregon and over the past 7 years has set the vision and mission for the organization including the launch of programs like the Built Festival, Consumer Product Accelerator Program, and Bridges. His passion is centered around leveraging the state’s unique position to make Oregon known as the hub of consumer product innovation and entrepreneurship.
