Evette Castillo Clark
Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students
Dr. Evette Castillo Clark (she/her/hers) is the Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students at Lewis & Clark College, overseeing campus living, campus safety, spiritual life, student engagement, emergency management, health and wellness services, counseling, international students, social change and community engagement, student rights and responsibilities, athletics, student accessibility, career center, inclusion and multicultural engagement, college outdoors, new student orientation, and the first-year experience. Prior to Lewis & Clark, she worked at Saint Mary’s College of California as the Associate Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and the Associate Vice President for Student Life and Dean of Students including roles as Title IX Deputy, Chief Conduct Officer, Chair of the Bias Incident Response Team, Behavioral Intervention, Student Success Committee, and the College Committee on Inclusive Excellence. She has close to three decades of experience working in a large majority of traditional student affairs units and strengthening intentional campus-wide partnerships at the University of San Francisco, UC Berkeley; CSU East Bay; San Diego State University, and Tulane University. Dr. Clark was also on the School of Education faculty at the University of New Orleans.
A long-standing legacy of service, mentoring, and leadership in student affairs, Dr. Clark was honored as a NASPA Pillar of the Profession. She is also a recipient of the NASPA Asian Pacific Islander Knowledge Community Doris Michiko Ching Shattering the Glass Ceiling Award.Dr. Clark has served on the Board of Directors for NASPA, the National Academic Advising Association, the ACE Northern California Women’s Network, and as a Board of Trustee for northern California bay area high schools of St. Joseph Notre Dame and Cristo Rey De La Salle.
Dr. Clark received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UC Irvine; a Master of Arts in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from New York University; and a Doctorate in Education in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco. She is also a fellow and graduate of UC Berkeley’s Executive Leadership Academy in the Center for Studies of Higher Education, Goldman School of Public Policy.
